Study 2 Peter 1:3-4 – COMPLETED

S = Scripture: 2 Peter 1:3-4 [GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)]
3God’s divine power has given us everything we need for life and for godliness. This power was given to us through knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and integrity. 4Through his glory and integrity he has given us his promises that are of the highest value. Through these promises you will share in the divine nature because you have escaped the corruption that sinful desires cause in the world.
E = Explanation:
No matter what people want or think they need etc. God has provided for each of us everything that each one of us as individuals need. The most important things He has given is is Himself and the salvation he has given us. Nothing is more importnat than these things and we shold remember that. He gave us these things, not because we earned them, but simply because of who He is and how He is. Because of all of this we have been blessed beyond measure and be free of the evilo that is a natural part of this world as it is and a natural part of every person born into this world.
A = Application:
I need to take a moment every time I am struggling with thoughts of what I don’t have or what I think I need and literally thank God for the things I do have most importantly relationship with Him and His caring love.

Current Study – Isaiah 2:12-21

12The Lord of Armies will have his day against all who are arrogant and conceited and all who are proud of themselves (they will be humbled), 13against all the towering and mighty cedars of Lebanon and all the oaks of Bashan, 14against all the high mountains and all the lofty hills, 15against every high tower and every fortified wall, 16against all the large ships of Tarshish and all the beautiful boats. 17Then arrogant people will be brought down, and high and mighty people will be humbled. On that day the Lord alone will be honored. 18Then idols will disappear completely. 19People will go into caves in the rocks and into holes in the ground because of the Lord’s terrifying presence and the honor of his majesty when he rises to terrify the earth. 20On that day people will throw to the moles and the bats the silver and gold idols that they made for themselves to worship. 21They will go into caves in the rocks and into cracks in the cliffs because of the Lord’s terrifying presence and the honor of his majesty when he rises to terrify the earth.
E = Explanation:
God is going to go to war with all who are so prideful that they think themselves more important than God and their desires more important than God’s. God’s armies will war against prideful individuals, groups, governments, and nations no matter how big or powerful. Even the most mighty and powerful will be reduced to desperately looking to hide from the whole affair in an attempt to avoid any part of the conflict as a whole. Those will be so desperate that they will abandon and want no parts of even the false gods and riches they worshipped before all of this started. At that time the presence and power of God will be so evident that all doubt and disbelief will immediately be demonstrated as just plain stupidity and it will be clear to all that you want to be on God’s side.
A = Application:
I am going to look for prideful areas in my life and seek to have God help me remove them from me.

16The second beast forces all people—important and unimportant people, rich and poor people, free people and slaves—to be branded on their right hands or on their foreheads. 17It does this so that no one may buy or sell unless he has the brand, which is the beast’s name or the number of its name.
18In this situation wisdom is needed. Let the person who has insight figure out the number of the beast, because it is a human number.[a] The beast’s number is 666.
E = Explanation:
As the world gets closer to the end, evil will find a way to convince people to follow it. There will be some marking that all people will be asked to take that will somehow seem good, but will actually be a mark that signifies an allegance to evil. This mark will contain the number of man three times which is the number six three times. Since most of the world is aware of this, it must somehow be coded or disguised but has something to do with our hands or heads.
This ability to say who can buy or sell means control of the world and control of it’s systems. Much of the control that evil will gain in the world as we get close to the end will be voluntarily given to it by the people of the world.
A = Application:
I will look at the things I find to be helpul in the my life that may be giving power to hidden evil.

3First, you must understand this: In the last days people who follow their own desires will appear. These disrespectful people will ridicule God’s promise 4by saying, “What’s happened to his promise to return? Ever since our ancestors died, everything continues as it did from the beginning of the world.”
5They are deliberately ignoring one fact: Because of God’s word, heaven and earth existed a long time ago. The earth appeared out of water and was kept alive by water. 6Water also flooded and destroyed that world. 7By God’s word, the present heaven and earth are designated to be burned. They are being kept until the day ungodly people will be judged and destroyed.
8Dear friends, don’t ignore this fact: One day with the Lord is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. 9The Lord isn’t slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn’t want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act.
E = Explanation:
Many people are going to believe that God is not going to end all of this evil in the world and will even not believe in such things as God. We are not to be concerned with when it is going to happen as much as we are supposed to always live as if this moment is our last; because one of these moments will be.
The world has been created by God and even destroyed with the same water He started with in creating. Just because it seems like He is taking a long time from our perspective, He created time and is outside of time. He does not see time the same as we do. If He said He is coming to destroy evil, He will come and evil will be destroyed.
A = Application: I am going to look for 3 ways that I am not actually living like I believe He could returna t any minute and try to change them.

2 Timothy 3:1-7 (Filled In)

1You must understand this: In the last days there will be violent periods of time. 2People will be selfish and love money. They will brag, be arrogant, and use abusive language. They will curse their parents, show no gratitude, have no respect for what is holy, 3and lack normal affection for their families. They will refuse to make peace with anyone. They will be slanderous, lack self-control, be brutal, and have no love for what is good. 4They will be traitors. They will be reckless and conceited. They will love pleasure rather than God. 5They will appear to have a godly life, but they will not let its power change them. Stay away from such people.
6Some of these men go into homes and mislead weak-minded women who are burdened with sins and led by all kinds of desires. 7These women are always studying but are never able to recognize the truth.
E = Explanation:
One of the ways we can know we are near to the end is that there will be more than the usual self focus, more than the usual love of money, and more than the usual amount of rudeness in the world. Respect for parents and respect in general will be nonexistent. Love of everything that God has said is evil will be far more prevalent than it is normally. When all of this gets so bad that it is noticeably worse than it has been throughout history the end is near.
The worst part of all of this is that it will not just be those who do not believe. There will be those that seem to be believers that will have all of these problems at such terrible levels and will mislead others to follow their examples.
A = Application:
I will continue to look for some who have been in teaching, imparting, mentoring, and leadership roles who may be the ones spoken of as misleading others here to make sure I am not being influenced or misled as described here.
